TALLAHASSEE, Fla — Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is issuing criminal subpoenas to the popular gaming platform Roblox. In a post on social media, Uthmeier says, “Roblox profited off out kids while exposing them to the most dangerous of harms. They enabled our kids to be abused.”
An issue with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the ubiquitous internet hosting service, took down many of the world's most popular online games in the early hours of Monday morning. Fortnite, Roblox, and Nintendo all reported that their services were unavailable.
Roblox, a world-building video game, has about 40 million players under age 13 – or more than a third of its user base.
